Who is Aston Dynamics?
Aston Dynamics is an Australian braking-technology company. We own the intellectual property behind a proven electric-over-hydraulic brake platform that is fitted to trailers and working vehicles around the world, and we are extending that braking expertise into independent, fail-safe braking for autonomous platforms. Our systems are engineered by our teams in Melbourne and Toronto, and manufactured at our facility in Bendigo, Australia.

We operate across three countries: engineering in Melbourne, Victoria and Toronto, Ontario; manufacturing in Bendigo, Victoria; and operations and customer support for North America in Cedar Hill, Texas.

Technology
What is electric-over-hydraulic (EOH) braking?
An electric-over-hydraulic system uses an electric signal to command a hydraulic actuator, which applies the vehicle's brakes. It combines the precision and controllability of electronic actuation with the stopping power and reliability of hydraulics. It is a proven approach used on trailers and working vehicles worldwide.
What does braking for autonomous platforms involve?
An autonomous platform has no driver to fall back on if something goes wrong. That changes what braking has to do: it must be able to act independently, bring the vehicle to a controlled stop on command or on failure, and hold it safely for long periods. We engineer braking systems specifically for this duty, including emergency braking and long-duration park braking.
